Wholebeing Program

Integrated care for mind and body

When combined, exercise and nutrition form a powerful strategy for supporting both physical and mental health. Wholebeing – our integrated program with Verde Nutrition Co. – brings together Accredited Exercise Physiologists and Accredited Practising Dietitians to deliver safe, evidence-backed care that supports recovery and long-term wellbeing.

A unique approach

A unique approach

The Wholebeing program was established in June 2022 as an early intervention support mechanism for emergency services personnel diagnosed with a primary psychological injury. We know that deteriorating physical health can intensify mental ill-health. By addressing both together, the program helps reduce barriers to recovery, prevent setbacks, and promote sustainable health outcomes.

How the program works

Dual-service care

Sessions provided concurrently over 12-18 weeks to optimise behaviour change.

Holistic focus

Exercise interventions are value-based and tailored to the individual’s circumstances, while nutrition support is personalised and evidence-driven.

Accessible delivery

Many sessions are delivered via telehealth, ensuring participants can access support regardless of location.

Team-based

Clinicians work collaboratively with treating teams to ensure aligned, consistent care.

What to expect

  • A focus on both physical rehabilitation and lifestyle supports.
  • Education and tools designed to build confidence and independence in recovery.
  • A personalised plan that reflects each individual’s goals, whether that’s returning to work, regaining energy, or improving daily wellbeing.

Impact and results

Outcomes showed significant improvements in:

  • Mental health: Reductions in depression, anxiety, and stress (DASS-21).
  • Sleep quality: Average improvement of two points on the PSQI scale.
  • Physical and mental wellbeing: Increased PROMIS-10 T-scores, with stronger gains in the early intervention group.
  • Nutrition: Average 4.5 point (out of 14), or 32% increase on the Mediterranean Diet Score.
  • Work readiness: Measurable increases in capacity to return to work compared to those who did not receive dual intervention.
